The Fairbury Public Library now has a variety of Maker Space equipment available for public use. Equipment may be used outside of scheduled library programs according to the policies and guidelines set forth below:
- Users must be valid Fairbury Public Library card-holders in good standing.
- Prior to using any FPL Maker Space equipment, users must complete a Maker Agreement Form.
- Users under age 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Refer to chart below for minimum age and supervision requirements to use Maker Space equipment.
- The user agrees that the Fairbury Public Library is not responsible for any manufacturing defects in the quality of workmanship or materials inherent in any of the tools or equipment.
- The user agrees that if any tool or piece of equipment becomes unsafe or in a state of disrepair, they will immediately discontinue use of the tool and notify FPL staff.
- The user must report any accident or incident that occurs while using maker space equipment to FPL staff.
- Tools and equipment are available on a first come, first serve basis, for use in the FPL only. Advanced reservations are recommended to ensure the equipment and materials will be available when needed.
- Care is to be taken while using Maker Space equipment. Loss or damage may require the user to pay for repair or replacement cost of the item.
- The user acknowledges that the library is only able to provide consumable materials on a limited basis. Users may be asked to provide and use their own consumables. Library staff must first confirm that user-provided materials are compatible with equipment. Some equipment will require a consumables fee. Ask staff for details.
- No food or drink will be permitted at any time while using Maker Space equipment.
- Training is required before Maker Space equipment can be used unsupervised by staff.
