D in neuroscience from Harvard University.

Alice Howland, happily married with three grown children and a house on the Cape, is a celebrated Harvard professor at the height of her career when she notices a forgetfulness creeping into her life. As confusion starts to cloud her thinking and her memory begins to fail her, she receives a devastating diagnosis: early onset Alzheimer’s disease. Fiercely independent, Alice struggles to maintain her lifestyle and live in the moment, even as her sense of self is being stripped away. In turns heartbreaking, inspiring and terrifying, Still Alice captures in remarkable detail what it’s like to literally lose your mind…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

September Book Club Discussion

Monday, September 14, at 7pm, or,
Tuesday, July 15, at 9am
Barefoot
By Elin Hilderbrand

Please call the library if you are interested in joining the book discussion group.

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Visiting Nantucket for the summer, three women seek peace and comfort as they cope with the challenges in their lives–from marriage, infidelity, and the mayhem of motherhood to scandal, tragedy, and illness.
Three women–burdened with small children, unwieldy straw hats, and some obvious emotional issues–tumble onto the Nantucket airport tarmac one hot June day. And their friend Melanie, after seven failed in vitro attempts, is pregnant at last–but only after learning that her husband is having an affair.
